Starbeast Developer Reconfirms Starbeast For Wii U, And New Nintendo 3DS eShop Title
August 20, 2012 at 7:02 PM

Dear My Nintendo News,

We wanted to send out this information just to clarify things to the community. Starbeast is currently in a very early stage in development. The game has been in a slow development cycle, since 2011, which allowed us to fine tune every detail. Initially, Starbeast was being developed for the Wii. Since the announcement of the WiiU and the great things we have seen, we decided to bring it to the WiiU eShop. In January of 2012, the game was put on hold to work on a simple, unannounced 3DS eShop title.

Our team at Pixel Entertainment is planning on bringing the production back to speed once the unannounced title has been completed. Also, the information that went up on GoNintendo is outdated. The game is very different now, due to the extra time. Expect a formal announcement for Starbeast near the end of this year. Expect the 3DS title to be announced within the coming month. We really appreciate your enthusiasm and we can't till everyone plays our upcoming games!

The image above presumably comes from a Best Buy employee's newsletter. The newsletter lets employees know that Wii U cannot be pre-ordered industry-wide until next month, but consumers can sign up on Best Buy’s website to be notified of when they can pre-order Nintendo's forthcoming console.

Developer Claims Nintendo Makes Video Game Development Look Easy
August 20, 2012 at 4:37 PM

Hello Games, the developer of Joe Danger – a racing game inspired by Nintendo's Excitebike for NES, thinks that Nintendo makes video game development look effortless. For example, the developer believes Super Mario Galaxy has so much content that an entire game can be made out of just five minutes of playtime with the Wii title.

“What we always talk about is a kind of ‘Nintendo-y’ feel. The Nintendo thing for me is they make it look effortless – they just throw in things. If you’re playing Mario Galaxy, you’re like, ‘That one five minutes, most people would make that an entire game.’ That’s what I really want so badly for people to play unicycle – or any of those … we’ve got skis and it’s only like two levels – you want someone to play that and think, ‘This could’ve been a whole game and I would’ve played it. You know what I mean? But I’ve just had this one little nugget, and it’s left me wanting more. And they move on to the next thing, and the next thing, and they feel like – when they unlock a level – ‘I wonder what this one’s gonna be.’ So we’ve really stuck to that.”

Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney Is "Going Smoothly"
August 20, 2012 at 2:55 PM

Development of the forthcoming Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney for the Nintendo 3DS is apparently going very smoothly indeed. Work on the game is currently at its final stages – which means that a Japanese release for the game shouldn’t be too far off. Shu Takumi, the main developer of the core Ace Attorney series, just asks fans to continue being patient.

Thanks, Brandon
